NABTEB

NABTEB (National Business & Technical Examination Board) is popularly known for her O-Level Exam but little or nothing is known about the NABTEB A-level exam. NABTEB conducts two A-level exams ANBC and ANTC respectively.

 

NABTEB is one of the examination bodies set up by the Federal Government in 1992 to reduce the burden of conducting examinations, which involve a lot of technical and trade-related practical, which were formerly bored by WAEC. The board conducts the National Technical Examination (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) and their respective advance level examinations (ANBC and ANTC).

 

FUNCTIONS OF NABTEB

  1. Conduct examinations leading to the award of the; National Technical Certificate (NTC) Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC) National Business Certificate (NBC) Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC) and Modular Trade Certificate (MTC).

 

  1. Take over the conduct of Technical and Business Examinations formerly conducted by the Royal Society of Arts of London, City and Guilds of London and the West African Examinations Council; Issue results, certificates and make awards in examinations conducted by the Board.

 

  1. Conduct other specified examinations on behalf of or in collaboration with other examination bodies or agencies such as Registration Form Exam, the London Chamber of Commerce or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria etc.
  2. Conduct common entrance examinations into Technical Colleges and allied institutions Monitor, collect and keep records of continuous assessment in Technical Colleges and allied institutions towards the award of certificates in National Business and Technical Examinations.

 

What are the Types of Exams Conducted by NABTEB?

The four major examinations conducted by NABTEB are:

  • May/June NBC/NTC Examinations
  • November/December NBC/NTC & ANBC/ANTC Examinations
  • Modular Trades Certificate Examinations (MTCE)
  • National Common Entrance Examinations.

 

  1. NBC means National Business Certificate.
  2. NTC means National Technical Certificate.
  3. ANBC means Advanced National Business Certificate.
  4. ANTC means Advanced National Technical Certificate.

 

  • The NABTEB Examination comes up twice in a year which are:

1. SCHOOL CANDIDATE NABTEB (SCHOOL NABTEB)

This exam comes up between MAY to JUNEevery year.

It is the exam otherwise known as school Nabteb. Whereby students are going to put on their school uniforms (BLACK & WHITE) during the period of the exam. This NABTEB Exam lasts for ONE MONTH. The registration for this NABTEB Exam starts about 2 – 3 months before the commencement of the exam.

2. NABTEB FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES (NABTEB GCE)

WAEC is an acronym for West African Examination Board. It was established in 1952. The vision of the West African Examinations Council is to be a world-class examining body, adding value to students’ educational goals. WAEC remain Africa’s foremost examining body, providing qualitative and reliable educational assessment, encouraging academic and moral excellence and promoting sustainable human resource development and international co-operation.

The legislative assemblies of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia passed an ordinance (West African Examinations Council Ordinance NO. 40) approving the West African Examination Council in December 1951. The Ordinance agreed to the coordination of exams, and issuing of certificates to students in individual countries by the West African Examination Council. Liberia later issued their ordinance in 1974, at the annual meeting held in Lagos, Nigeria.

The West African Examination Council is known to have a strong committee. The structure of the council is divided into three major parts: International committees, National Committees, and Subcommittees

 

The council conducts different categories of examinations. They are International Examinations, National Examinations, Examinations conducted in collaboration with other examining bodies, and Examinations conducted on behalf of other examining bodies. The International exams are exams taken in the five countries with the WAEC ordinance. It consists of WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate Examination):
